My interest in complementary therapy
developed gradually from an unfulfilled teenage wish to become a physiotherapist.
Having spent 20 years in IT within the insurance industry in London being
on the receiving end of therapies to help me through the stressful times,
I escaped to Gloucestershire in 2000 and a change of direction into massage,
first of all, seemed a natural progression. Over two years I studied and
gained ITEC Diplomas in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage, Sports Massage,
Sports Nutrition and Reflexology. I went on to become a registered ART (Advanced
Reflexology Techniques) Practitioner and I have enjoyed adding to my skills
with workshops and courses in acupressure, meridians, Thai massage, Trager
and other bodywork related therapies.
I enjoy being able to treat muscle-related injuries and postural problems
with massage and many complaints with Reflexology particularly stress-related
problems having had first-hand experience. I have also been a qualified
SCENAR Practitioner since 2002 which means I can also effectively treat
acute injuries and chronic painful conditions.
I feel I have a variety of tools in my practise and I often use a combination
of all these therapies during a course of treatment.
I continue to study other holistic approaches to the body, mind and spirit
connection which enables me to refer clients to other practitioners and
therapies which may help them further or more effectively depending on the
problem.
I have a therapy room in my home and I visit people in their homes if they
cannot come to me. I work on a freelance basis at two local Spa Hotels and
am a volunteer therapist at a day care hospice providing massage and reflexology
to patients and carers. |
