REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology works on the principle that every organ and system of the
body has a corresponding point or zone in the feet.
How does it work?
A reflexology practitioner uses pressure to massage each of the points
in the toes, feet and ankles to release tension, remove energy blockages,
disperse accumulations of calcium and uric acid and stimulate blood circulation.
This in turn keeps the body’s energy flowing and the mind in balance.
What does it involve?
The practitioner will begin by taking details of the client’s medical
history and lifestyle. The client will be asked to remove only their footwear.
The client, fully clothed apart from their feet, will lie in a special
chair whilst the practitioner works on their feet and ankles.
Pressure is applied to each reflex point using specific techniques during
which the therapist may feel differences in the texture of the feet which
indicate energy blockages. Where these blockages occur the client may
experience some slight discomfort as the Therapist works to ease away
the blockage to allow the body’s energy to flow freely.
